Scholarships
The Petersburg Alumnae Chapter awards scholarships annually to high school seniors in our service area.
The application deadline is March 11, 2022!

Graduating African American high school seniors from the following schools may apply for the opportunity to be awarded a $2,000.00 scholarship: Colonial Heights HS, Dinwiddie HS, Hopewell HS, Matoaca HS, Petersburg HS, Prince George HS, Sussex Central HS and Thomas Dale HS.

A student from Matoaca High School and Petersburg High School will each be awarded a $2,000.00 scholarship. Applicants from the remaining six high schools will compete for two $2,000.00 scholarships. One scholarship will be awarded to a student planning to attend Virginia State University and the second scholarship will be awarded to a student planning to attend a college or university other than Virginia State University.

Books Buddies
Book Buddies is a program designed to encourage children to enjoy reading and promotes literacy and enhances language development. The Book Buddies volunteers of the Petersburg Alumnae Chapter visit area schools at least twice each month from October to May to read books to students.


Delta GEMS
The Delta Growing & Empowering Myself Successfully (Delta GEMS) program is designed for females between the ages of 14 - 18 who are in grades 9-12.
The application period for the current 2017-2018 program application has ended. Applications for 2018-2019 will be available in the spring.
Delta GEMS is a national initiative of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Delta Adventures in Reading Enrichment (DARE)
Delta Adventures in Reading Enrichment (DARE) is a month-long annual summer program. Students participate in activities each week designed to enhance vocabulary, word analysis, comprehension, and other reading and writing skills. Students are exposed to story telling, jewelry making, and many valuable lessons shared by community experts. The staff is composed of active and retired teachers and other volunteers.
